DIY Letter Wall (Made Out Of Cardboard)
When I was pregnant with my daughter,I was looking into different DIY ideas to decorate her side of the bedroom (we share our bedroom with our daughter) and I found this really cool idea for a letter wall. I saw a lot of letter wall art made out of wooden letters, but I decided to save some money and just make it out of cardboard. This is a good way to re-purpose the empty cardboard boxes you have at home and save money!
This was actually a lot of fun to make and it looks adorable in the little ones room. If you have little kids at home, this could actually be a fun project to do together!
This is what you need:
- Empty cardboard boxes that you have available
- Pencil & ruler
- Acrylic paint and paint brushes
- Scotch adhesive
- Stencils (in any pattern of your choice)
Using a pencil and a ruler, draw the letters on the cardboard. You can make them as big or as small as you would like. Keep in mind that this does not have to be perfect, you can actually make them in different sizes to make it more interesting and fun. Use the scissors to cut the letters. This step can be a little tricky because it won’t look perfect around the edges, but you can always use a box cutter ( if you are doing this with your kids, I suggest using scissors and always supervise their work).
Next, you can prime the letters first, using white paint (this step is optional) or you could start painting the letters with the color of your choice and skip the priming. Note: I found that priming the letter with white paint first, made the colors pop and look brighter.
After painting the letters, use the stencils ( I used flower stencils) to add a cute and fun little pattern to the letters. Once it’s all done and the paint is dry, go ahead and add the scotch adhesive and stick the letters to the wall. Make them look a little uneven, it will make them more fun and interesting. Voila! You made your own Letter Wall out of cardboard!
I hope you guys like this and enjoy making them! 🙂
